Antihypertensives

Antihypertensives are not just blood-pressure lowering drugs. They are risk-reduction tools that prevent stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure progression, kidney injury, retinal injury, and pregnancy complications when they are matched to the patient. For REx-PN, the practical nursing task is to gather focused data, identify unsafe parameters, hold or question a dose when appropriate, report promptly, reinforce teaching, and document response. The exam trap is treating the number alone. NurseNest questions should make the learner ask whether the patient is stable, whether target-organ injury is present, what medication class fits the comorbidity, and what monitoring proves safe response.
