The learner role is to assess fluid status, initiate or titrate protocolized fluids when authorized, prioritize safety, coordinate interprofessional care, evaluate response, and prevent complications. Registered nurses integrate intake/output, daily weight, perfusion, lung findings, electrolytes, renal function, comorbidities, medication risks, and patient trajectory before escalating or implementing authorized fluid therapy.
