Distributive Shock

Answer before reading. These test a pattern that contradicts what most learners expect shock to look like. 1. A hypotensive client has warm, flushed, dry skin and a bounding pulse. Does the warm skin make shock less likely? 2. A client with a systolic pressure of 82 mmHg has received the prescribed fluid volume with only a marginal response. Is the next step more fluid, or something else? 3. In which of the three distributive causes — septic, anaphylactic, neurogenic — would you expect the heart rate to be slow rather than fast?
