NCLEX-RN
A sudden, painless loss of part of a patient’s visual field is a red‑flag that cannot wait. When the neurosensory retina separates from the retinal pigment epithelium, photoreceptors are deprived of oxygen and nutrients, and irreversible vision loss can occur within hours. The RN’s first responsibility is to recognise the classic symptom complex, protect the eye from further stress, and secure a same‑day ophthalmology assessment.
