It is also important to screen for conditions that could contribute to abnormal uterine bleeding, including known or suspected pregnancy, current or recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease, untreated lower-genital-tract infection, uterine-cavity distortion such as a large fibroid, uterine or cervical malignancy, progestin-dependent neoplasia including breast cancer, and active liver disease.
